Those Who Serve - Monthly Schedule

Stephen Ministry...

Stephen Ministry can  be best defined through its vision statement "Christ Caring for People Through People." When something shakes up your world, you can either let it hurt you or help you. Stephen Ministers are those, who exhibit the gifts of mercy and compassion and are trained to walk with you during difficult times - helping those who are: grieving, suffering from a debilitating illness, separated or divorced, facing a life transition, in a job crisis, disabled, lonely, or in spiritual crisis.

What is a Stephen Minister?

    A Stephen Minister is:

    • A Child of God, given spiritual gifts of mercy and compassion.
    • A caring, Christian friend who takes the time to really listen, in a confidential way.
    • A lay person who received 50 hours of training in how to provide distinctively Christian care.
    • Named after St. Stephen, who was commissioned by the Apostles to care for the needs of the people in the Christian community.

Stephen Ministry is Your Ministry... You, as members of Ascension, play an important role in our Stephen Ministry. Here is what you can do:

  • PRAY for God to bring hope and healing to hurting people through our Stephen Ministry.
  • ACCEPT CARE from a Stephen Minister during your time of need. God doesn't expect you to carry your burdens alone.
  • TELL A FRIEND, neighbor, coworker, or relative who is hurting, about our Stephen Ministry.
  • IF YOU are a good listener and compassionate person, prayerfully consider becoming a STEPHEN MINISTER.

How can I receive a Stephen Minister or become a Stephen Minister?

Contact the church office at 407-831-7788 for more information.
