Our primary purpose for running Vacation Bible School is to share Jesus' love through thoughts, actions, and words. The second week of July, every child who attended
Ascension's Vacation Bible School learned how Jesus is their forever friend. Throughout the week, we had 128 kids, ages 4-12, come to Ascension and learn about Jesus' love for them. Each day started in the
main sanctuary where the children had an opportunity to learn about the theme of the day, sing songs, and watch a short skit. From there 5 separate groups of children traveled to 5 stations throughout the
campus. Survivor Games were held outside in the courtyard. There the children were challenged to work together as friends through |

obstacle courses and challenging games. In Zehnder Chapel students experienced Buddy's Bible Challenge, where they would read through the Bible story of the day and tackled a hands-on Bible
challenge. In Wilderness Crafts children recorded the theme of the day in their journal which they were able to take home with them at the end of the week. They also made several creations related to the daily
theme. In Backpack Snacks the children created their own treats to help rejuvenate them for the day as well spend time learning about their daily Bible story. The last station was Campfire Bible Stories; here the
children would actually watch the Bible story of the day acted out by our great actors. All of the children would end the day at Trailhead Closing where Audra Mulder led some of our teens to do some crazy stunts in
order to promote our mission project. The children also shared a blessing and sang our VBS songs before being picked up by their parents. The children at VBS were challenged to share the love of Jesus with the
community as well as with their families, and they definitely met the challenge. As you may have seen on Sunday morning, we collected over 70 bags of spaghetti, ravioli, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and toilet paper
for the Christian Sharing Center. So I want to thank all of the families who brought these items in to help give to those who are in need. VBS is also a time that we can reach out to families who are not
affiliated with a church and establish a relationship with them. We had over 20 families who attended VBS that were not currently attending a church of their own, and we have set up intentional plans to follow up
with these families and get them involved here at Ascension. VBS can never be done without a great team of volunteers, and this year we had several new faces who stepped up to the plate to lend a hand. We had a
team of about 40 volunteers that devoted a good part of their week to sharing the love of Jesus with everyone who entered Ascension's doors. Our volunteers were comprised of teachers, teenagers, members, new
members, and visitors, families; they were just an all-around excellent group whose only intention was to give of themselves. I want to thank all of them who made our VBS a great success! And I also want to thank
you, the congregation, who every year supports this ministry. We could not do this without your support!
